About Us

The Canberra CareersXpo is an annual event usually conducted on the first Wednesday and Thursday of August each year by the Rotary Club of Canberra City in partnership with the ACT Education Directorate and this year the event falls on the 15 and 16 August 2018.

The CareersXpo seeks to provide valuable career guidance and advice on career opportunities available to secondary students throughout the ACT and surrounding NSW schools network.

This CareersXpo is the largest event of its type in the region with over 100 local and national exhibitors, including universities, colleges, and career placement organisations providing a wide range of information.

The Expo will once again showcase a wide range of career pathways that appeal to a diverse population in order to provide a valuable experience for all relevant stakeholders.

Students, parents, teachers, careers advisors and career changers are encouraged to come along and explore, ask questions and gather as much information as possible.

Exhibitors from the Canberra Institute of Technology, the Australian National University, the University of Canberra, as well as other educational providers, training institutions and employers will provide useful and relevant information in an interactive and interesting way.

The Rotary Club of Canberra City is proud to present this vocational and community service program.

Entry is free.

Any surplus proceeds from site fees and sponsorship are applied for the benefit of local youth and vocational projects conducted by the Rotary Club of Canberra City.

WorldSkills Australia’s Try'aSkill

WorldSkills Australia’s (WSA) Try’aSkill is an interactive program that allows visitors to try their hand at various skill and trade areas. The displays are entertaining, informative and offer access to some of the basic skills involved within a range of fields. WSA’s Try’aSkill aims to encourage people to appreciate that skill education and training can offer many viable career choices for the future.

Try’aSkill will be located across two separate spaces in the Parkes Room and Budawang Building. In 2017 the Try’aSkill STEM Cell featured forensic science, fitness, nursing, surveying, engineering and cyber security. Exhibitors in the second Try’aSkill exhibit included hair and beauty, horticulture, bricklaying, automotive and arboriculture to give students an opportunity to experience firsthand VET based trade and skill activities.

We are hoping to have SALT (Supporting and Linking Tradeswomen) with their trade quality trailer, tools and equipment in attendance again to encourage and promote women in non-traditional trade industries.

Indigenous Employment Exhibition

The Indigenous Employment Exhibition will feature a wide variety of organisations as well as local and federal government departments to raise awareness of career and education opportunities including support services to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people living in the ACT. 2017 exhibitors included Aboriginal Employment Strategy, Indigenous Business Australia, CIT Yurauna Centre, Gugan-Gulwan Youth Aboriginal Corporation, UTS Jumbunna Indigenous House of Learning, Department of Human Services and ACT Environment, Planning and Sustainable Development Directorate.
